On the night of August 19, 1974, Elvis realizes he wants to leave a little more of himself behind when it’s time to go, so he visits a fertility doctor named Johns and sets events in motion that have ramifications far beyond his own mortality. The perfect candidate is found to bear his offspring and a son is born, but as the young man grapples with the secrecy surrounding his paternity, it takes a special friend to help him discover the truth. Fraught with tension, poignancy and raw emotion, this work of fiction examines the friends’ disparate lives—one born into a life of privilege and the other despair—and ultimately unites them in truth, healing, and love.

“The New Elvis” is a story of a two teenage boys: One of privilege seeking his biological father, the other struggling to survive a desperate childhood. They have little in common other than their fascination with Elvis, both influenced by their mothers.Motivated to continue his legacy, the story begins with The King visiting an unimpressive sperm bank on the outskirts of Vegas to make a deposit. His request to the fertility doctor is that the recipient of his donation is to be single, attractive and a virgin.
Ryan Wyatt becomes the New Elvis, looking amazingly like his biological father and inheriting his singing and song writing talents. The young Ryan is not told of his real father, and he grows up believing his mother’s husband is his dad.
As a teenager, Ryan overhears a conversation that convinces him that his mother has not told him the truth. Ryan and his girlfriend, who is suffering from premature arthritis, begin searching for Ryan’s father. Given Ryan’s striking resemblance to Elvis, they start by looking at Elvis impersonators.
Ryan crosses paths with Logan, a boy with a tragic past. Logan’s mother is a self-engrossed hoarder, and his father a drug dealer. Both die on the same day: his father shot by dealers enforcing their territory, his mother the victim of a fire in her trash-strewn home. Logan is traumatized and loses his ability to speak. He is taken in by his uncle, who by chance, is the fertility doctor who ran the sperm bank visited by Elvis many years earlier.
The stories of the two boys are touching. You feel their stress and their grief as they seek answers and struggle to move forward with their lives. The book is well-written, easy to read, containing descriptive scenes and realistic dialogue. The author has also included subplots surrounding the main characters, giving the book depth.
Readers seeking a trek down Elvis’ memory lane will find plenty of flashbacks, lyrics, and other memorabilia sprinkled throughout the story. I recommend the book to anyone wanting an enjoyable weekend read.

The New Elvis Wyborn Senna 9780978587284 Books Reviews
As a true fan of Elvis, I knew I had to read this book. The story was very good and really "what if". There were many characters with their own side story to keep things going. My only complaint would be the abrupt ending.
This story, of course, never actually happened. Or did it?
Only the legend of the King could support this outlandish tale of mystery and intrigue (and Elvis Presley minutiae). In our world where the late king of rock is regularly seen at gas stations, late-night diners, and grocery stores, Senna's colorful yarn about a secret son is just crazy enough to be believed. Through it Senna weaves threads of factual information about Elvis and his life, making the story as interesting as it is entertaining.
This is a beautiful depiction of a nugget of pop culture gold--and a hilarious imagining of the dirt in its cracks.
Offbeat little mystery tale about a young man who just might be... well, guess. The well-researched story unwinds slowly and intriguingly, alternating a somewhat campy sense of humor with scenes of a more serious tone. The author has populated the plot with vivid characters and seems to have an encyclopedic knowledge of Elvis's career, spewing out obscure, interesting facts throughout the course of the story, all of which creates a foundation of reality that has you believing, "Yes, I think maybe, just maybe... it could have happened..."
TheNew Elvis is filled with twist and turns of suspense, romance, murder, and betrayal. The story could cross several genres. Great imagination and storytelling is Wyborn’s great attributes as a writer. He has the capacity to pull the reader into the story with fictional characters that seem realistic. The story is written so well that it’s sometimes difficult to tell fiction from truth. As the truth began to unfold, I knew I was getting close to Logan revealing his secret and dreaded it because I didn’t want the story to end. Even though I knew the story was over, I turned the last page just hoping it was more…..That’s the attributes of a great writer. Encore Wyborn… Encore
The story is fictional but it will you make you look around in the present hoping you see a child that has the attributes of the King, ELVIS! Could this story be actually true, who knows?………

Or at least part of him hasn't. Tune into this tale for a lot of fun. It's the story we all wish was really true!
The New Elvis by Wyborn Senna is a quick fun read. The premise of the story is creative and clever. It is fast paced and well written. There is action, suspense, romance, humor and heartbreak. I liked the characters and the plot.
I found it surprisingly good. Based on the title, I wasn’t sure what to expect when I first picked it up. It wasn’t the sort of thing that I would normally read. I didn’t expect that I’d like it. But then I was almost instantly hooked, and realized I was ten percent through while I thought I was still determining whether it was something I wanted to read. Then I couldn’t put it down.
I enjoyed this book.
